Since 2018, this annual award has honored high-quality published scientific research that addresses critical issues in business and society. 126 scholarly works published since 2022 were nominated for the 2025 award. These works underwent a rigorous two-stage review process. First, a committee of AOM Fellows identified finalists. Next, the finalists were evaluated by a group of executive reviewers. Winners were chosen based on the joint recommendations of the academic Fellows and the practitioner executives. Amidst the drumbeat of calls for research that is relevant to practice, RRM is the one award that goes only to those studies that academics deem scientifically rigorous and practicing executives deem meaningful and actionable.

From 126 nominated studies worldwide, only eight were selected, and just three received the Distinguished Winner title — placing this paper among the “best of the best.”
