Mirco Peron is Associate Professor in Design and Planning of Digital Production Systems at the Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering at NTNU since April 2022.

The main goal of his research is twofold. First, to understand the impact of digitalization and Industry 4.0 (I4.0) technologies on different aspects of the supply chain; second, to support the decision-makers in understanding when it is beneficial to implement such technologies.

He has a multi-disciplinary background, combining knowledges on operations management with knowledges on material science and mechanical engineering, and he reflects his background on his approach to carry out research.

He is member of the IFAC TC5.2 committee and organizer of two working groups, one on “Challenges and opportunities in applying Additive Manufacturing in Supply Chains” and one on “Implementing Digital Twin in Manufacturing and Logistics Systems: New Trends and Challenges”. Morever, he serves as editor in Sustainable Futures (Elsevier), Sustainability (MDPI), and Applied Sciences (MDPI).
