Research Seminar The differential impact of Dodd-Frank on community vs non-community banks

2018-12-11
ISM kindly invites to participate in Research Seminar "The differential impact of Dodd-Frank on community vs non-community banks" led by Frank Kerins, Jr., Associate Professor of Finance in the Jake Jabs College of Business & Entrepreneurship (JJCBE) at Montana State University, USA.

Seminar will take place on the 11th of December, 14:00, room 412.

Abstract

We test empirically whether the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act (Dodd-Frank) has had a differential impact on the performance of banks based on relative size. Using a difference-in-difference regression analysis, we find that banks classified as community banks have significantly lower return-on-assets and return-on-equity and profit margins, and significantly higher non-interest expense, compliance costs and failure rates relative to non-community banks for at least three years in the post-Dodd-Frank period.
