“Creative Shock” Has United a Record Number of Social Entrepreneurship Enthusiasts

This year, International Social Business Case Competition “Creative Shock” has united a record number of participants from all over the world – 1741 students applied for the challenge.

The applications were submitted by the participants from more than 100 countries across the globe – the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Germany, China, Nigeria, Thailand, India, Bangladesh and many others. The contest each year attracts more and more students from the prestigious and world-wide known universities – 37 applications were received from The University of Oxford, 15 – from Imperial College London, and Yale University.

According to the project manager, ISM University‘s Economics programme student Kotryna Kanclerytė, the increase in the number of participants reveals that the youth becomes more aware of social entrepreneurship and understands its importance in today‘s business.

”We are happy that each year more and more young people dedicate their time and efforts to solve the challenges of social enterprises. During the project, students learn about the ways of establishing a social business, boost their creativity and look for unconventional solutions, ideas“, says Creative Shock organizer Kotryna.

An Unforgettable Experience

Social Business Case Competition “Creative Shock“ is an opportunity that creative, ambitious students should not miss. A chance to participate in the contest and compete for 2000 euros, and flight tickets to any chosen destination encouraged the finalists of the last year to join “Creative Shock“ as well. The winners from Austria admit that participation allowed them not only to test their creative thinking skills, but also to develop and implement new ideas. In addition, social entrepreneurship enthusiasts see the project as a chance to gain invaluable experience and discover Lithuania.

”Last year together with my team we reached the final round of the competition. When we found this out, we became extremely happy as it meant that we will get a change to visit Lithuania. When we finally came here, we were amazed by the exceptional Lithuanian culture, the beauty of the cities and people who are warm and friendly. All the experiences left only great opinions about Lithuania and I am looking forward to participating in the contest this year“, states student Premika Bhongsudhep from Thailand.  

The Finals in Vilnius

“Creative Shock” consists of three rounds each year. The first two tasks are related to solving issues of social enterprises and are submitted online. The authors of best ideas are then invited to the Finals in Vilnius, the capital of Lithuania, where the top 10 teams compete for the grand prize.

Traditionally, the final week of the contest is finished with the conference about social entrepreneurship, where entrepreneurs from across the globe share their insights, ideas about social entrepreneurship. This year it will be organized on the 1st of December. The entry is free of charge. Finally, the day after the event, final presentations of the top teams will begin and original solutions to the issues of social enterprises will be revealed.
