We are glad to inform you that ISM is being relocated to the very centre of the capital – to Vilnius’ former Central Post Office, located in Gedimino Avenue 7.
“UAB Terseta”, managed by the real estate investment fund “Lords LB Baltic Fund IV”, has been recognised as the winner of the lease purchase of the premises* of ISM University of Management and Economics. From September 2022, ISM University will move into the former premises of Vilnius’ Central Post Office.
From next autumn, ISM University will be located in Gediminas Avenue. Modern and efficient premises will be adapted for our students, academics and administration. The new location, next to the Bank of Lithuania, the Lithuanian Science Council, the Lithuanian Government, other business and cultural centres, will make it easier to feel the pulse of science, business and society, and to create new joint public initiatives with the Lithuanian business and cultural world. The 5,400 square meter space will house auditoriums, offices, a modern library, dedicated places for student learning and collaboration, and spaces for events and recreational activities. The former building of Vilnius’ Central Post Office will be renovated, while preserving its historical heritage and using cutting edge technologies.According to ISM’s President Dr Dalius Misiūnas, the main criteria for choosing the new premises for the university were location and functionality: “We were looking for a space where students and faculty would be surrounded by the business community, a place that would be visible and open to the public. It was essential for us that the building itself would be designed for modern learning and a contemporary lifestyle. We wanted it to be close to the main leisure and cultural points. The former premises of Vilnius’ Central Post Office perfectly met these criteria – it is impossible to be more centrally located as the post office has always been the point from which the city begins.”
The building, which was built in the nineteenth century, reconstructed in 1969 (during a project initiated by Algimantas and Vytautas Nasvyčiai) and adapted for the post office, will retain its knowledge transfer function: “For our community, these premises are a symbolic place. It is a building that for a long time has been an exchange point for the most important information flows. We are delighted to preserve this function of the building. We aim to continue to be a significant source of knowledge and an essential attraction point for the business community and the society.”A more detailed vision of the premises will be presented very soon.* Please note that the purchase was made through published negotiations.
