Dr. (hp) Valdonė Darškuvienė is a professor of finance, with considerable teaching, consulting expertise in corporate finance, valuation, financial strategy, corporate governance. She is invited guest lecturer and speaker on these topics in international research conferences and public business events.
She is an expert of the Lithuanian Research Council, has served in EU H2020 MSCA and Gender Advisory Groups (2014-2017), president of the association of academics and professionals in finance and accounting AFECA (France) (2014-2018), member of CIRIEC scientific committee on public enterprises.
Having moved to managerial positions, she has served as Vice-President for Research (2015-2019) and chair of Department of Economics (2016-2017) at ISM University of Management and Economics, previously held positions at Vytautas Magnus University, Vice-Dean of Faculty of Economics and Management, professor of Finance, has taken the lead in projects on study quality and international development, including several international Double Degree study programs – with Louvain School of Management (Belgium), NHH (Norway), Trento University (Italy).
Her research interests include industrial organization, corporate finance, and corporate governance, behavioral finance, and networks. She has published on capital structure, employee financial participation, ownership structure, family firms, corporate governance and CSR, behavioural implications, the role of fintechs, and networks in financial markets. Her publications, based on joint research projects with partners from London School of Economics (LSE), Freie-Universitat Berlin, Copenhagen Business School (CBS), Corvinus university, etc., were published in international monographs, research papers, EU policy documents, including Eurofound reports PEPPER III, IV, V, EFES Position paper, 2014, etc.
She has earned a degree of doctor in social sciences (economics) from Lithuania Academy of Sciences, Institute of Economics, habilitation (HP) from Vytautas Magnus University.

Aims of the course
Applied valuation course builds on advanced corporate finance, and offers in-depth treatment of business valuation issues. It explores the main concepts, methodologies and tools of valuation through main theories, academic papers and case studies. The aim is to provide students with up-to-date knowledge of fundamental valuation techniques and its applications.

This course unit focuses on the fundamental concepts of corporate finance. It is designed as an introduction to financial management, and covers both theoretical and empirical aspects of capital investment decisions, valuation and financing decisions. This course examines the financial goals of a corporation with an emphasis on value creation. The main goal of the course is to provide theoretical knowledge and practical tools that are required in financial decision-making.
This course unit aims to provide an understanding of main principles of corporate finance: core investment decision rules, capital budgeting, methods of long- and short-term financing, and associated theoretical and empirical issues.

Course Description
This course introduces advanced applications in financial management that are geared to maximize firm value. Topics include valuation, investment techniques, estimation of cash flow, and various aspects of risk management. This course will go into details into some of the major corporate finance issues: financing and optimal capital structure, investments, considerations on becoming a publicly-traded company, company valuation methods most commonly used.
