Prior to joining academics and receiving his PhD, Ujjal Chatterjee’s worked in the automotive industry, spanning the globe as an electrical engineer and consultant. His dissertation was in the area of financial intermediation and asset pricing. Dr. Chatterjee taught in American University of Sharjah, University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, and his research works have been published in leading finance journals such as Journal of Banking and Finance and Journal of Financial Stability. Dr. Chatterjee is a member of the American Finance Association, Financial Intermediation Research Society and the Financial Management Association.

Aims of the course
The course provides an advanced introduction to research methodology and techniques in applied economics and finance. It covers an introduction to research and science; main issues related to research design; quantitative and qualitative research approaches and related methods; selected number of research techniques in finance, integrated with appropriate financial theory and evidence. The course is designed to provide students a solid foundation for designing and conducting their own research and to enable them to become knowledgeable consumers of prior academic research results.
